About Me

I’ve been impacted in my decision to be an artist probably because my dad was and I spend most of my childhood free time in his studio. I also work in several public and private educational institutions where I taught contemporary artistic creation techniques and graphic design.

Born in 1979, Willy Valdès KENGNE is a visual artist and researcher who lived and worked in Yaounde-Cameroon before moving in Houston Texas in 2019. He holds both a Master’s degree and a Master II in Fine Arts from the University of Yaoundé I, where he was later recruited as a permanent lecturer. He is currently pursuing doctoral research on the theme “Totemic Alliance among the Bamileke and the Simulation of Metamorphosis in Contemporary Creation.”

He has worked with several public and private institutions, teaching contemporary artistic creation techniques. Author of the book Pictorial Creation Inspired by the Ku’ngang Universe of Bansoa: The Result of an Immersion in an Initiatory Society of Cameroon (European University Editions, 2012), he has also published numerous articles. He has participated in several art exhibitions and scholarly conferences both in Cameroon and abroad.

Kengne also holds a diploma in Graphic Design from the Don Bosco Professional Training Program in Computer Science in Yaoundé-Cameroon and is a certified IT Support Specialist with CompTIA A+.

Lastly, he volunteers as a mentor and manager for young artists, supporting both individual and collective projects.
