As part of my work with Associate Degree students in Fine Arts at the University of Yaoundé I, I coordinated an art exhibition themed “Building Peace”. Through this project, students expressed their perspectives and emotions through visual artworks addressing the armed conflict that began in 2016 in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon.
The exhibition reflected on the human impact of the conflict, which has resulted in significant loss of life among both civilians and military personnel, as well as the displacement of many families and the rise of internal refugees. The students used their creative voices to promote dialogue, reflection, and hope for peace through artistic expression.
